Qld: Low paid workers set for rise

More than 350,000 workers on Queensland state awards will get a pay rise of $18 a weekfrom September 1.

The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission has handed down the rise, granting anapplication by the Queensland Council of Unions for a flow on of the latest federal wageincrease.

Council of Unions secretary GRACE GRACE says the rise takes the minimum state awardwage from $413.40 per week to $431.40 per week -- an increase of about 4.3 per cent.
