NSW: Man charged with over

SYDNEY, August 20 AAP - A 30-year-old man has been charged with more than 50 offences
relating to robberies around Sydney's western suburbs, police said today.

The man was arrested in Blacktown on Tuesday by officers of Operation Penna and charged
over 19 armed robberies at licensed premises, a police spokesman said.

He said the man was also charged with involvement in the theft of 30 vehicles allegedly
used in the offences.

In addition, the spokesman said, the man had been charged with eight counts of break, enter
and steal.

Officers from Operation Penna - based in Merrylands in Sydney's west and involving Crime
Agencies, Holroyd detectives, Macquarie Region Anti-theft Squad and Blacktown Police -
are trying to locate a car which may have been used in the robberies.

"Police are seeking public assistance in locating a black late-model Hyundai sedan," the
spokesman said.

"Apparently that car was seen in the area of some of the robberies."

The man is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court on September 19.
