Fed: Howard would like Aust to print Iraq's new bank notes

Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD would like Australia to print Iraq's new bank notes.

The current, highly devalued bank notes carry SADDAM HUSSEIN's portrait.

In an interview in the Bulletin magazine, Mr HOWARD says Australia is very good atprinting bank notes and has done this for about 20 nations.

Mr HOWARD says Australia expects to be consulted on all major decisions during thetransitional period in Iraq, including the selection of the interim Iraqi authority.

He also says the war may cost Australia less than expected, as the government had allowedfor a longer campaign.

Mr HOWARD says he believes the United Nations has been weakened by Iraq and that hewill talk to Foreign Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER about pursuing changes to the SecurityCouncil.
