Fed: Labor demands inquiry into contaminated Avgas crisis

CANBERRA, Jan 10 AAP - Up to 6,000 small aircraft were grounded in eastern Australia
today as the Avgas fuel contamination crisis worsened.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) grounded any planes which had filled up
with Mobil 100/130 avgas between November 21 and December 23 last year.

While oil company Mobil today identified what had contaminated the fuel - made at its
Altona refinery in Victoria - it said it had not developed a way to test for the contamination
onsite at airports.
