Vic: Mourners gather in Melb over death of pope

Hundreds of mourners are gathering at St Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne to mark the
death of Pope JOHN PAUL the Second.

Mourners are streaming into the opulent cathedral for its main service of the day,
conducted by Melbourne Archbishop DENIS HART.

Sun has broken through heavy cloud and church bells are ringing out as a diverse congregation,
including families and the elderly, pray ahead of the 11am (AEST) service.
