Fed: COAG talks start in Brisbane

BRISBANE, Dec 7 AAP - Talks between Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and state and territory
leaders have begun in Brisbane.

Mr Rudd walked with the premiers and chief ministers into Parliament House in Brisbane
on Monday morning for the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting.

At his side was new NSW Premier Kristina Keneally.

Asked about his first face-to-face talks with Ms Keneally since she took on the new
role, Mr Rudd said: "We were talking about the great challenges of COAG, which are faced
by every state and NSW is chief among them."

A post-COAG media conference is expected on Monday around 1.30pm (AEST).
