NSW: Country roads better, city roads worse - report

The Roads and Traffic Authority's improved the condition of country roads in NSW ..

but Sydney's roads are worse than they were 10 years ago.

Auditor-General BOB SENDT has found country road surfaces are generally improved ..

but up to 15 per cent of Sydney's roads are cracked and rough.

The report .. to be tabled in parliament today .. also criticises the RTA for deferring
major road rebuilding projects .. despite a significant increase in state government funding.

The report also found 16 per cent of the state's roads have reached their expected
life span .. and their future condition is unpredictable.
